Staff Accountant

We are hiring a Staff Accountant to perform daily financial tasks that keep our agency running smoothly. The Staff Accountant will support the Director, Finance & Operations, with running Dagger’s day-to-day finance operations, from recording transactions and maintaining ledgers to preparing financial statements and liaising with other departments to synthesize information and identify opportunities for process improvement.
They must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable presenting to management. The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks is critical. The ideal candidate is continually looking to streamline existing processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and use technology to automate repetitive tasks.
This role is based in Atlanta, GA (we're a hybrid workplace).
How can you tell if this role is right for you?
If you have:
- 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a creative service business (agency experience is a plus)
- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically obtained from a combination of formal education (Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance) and relevant work experience
- Strong analytical, time management, problem-solving and organizational skills
- A high degree of attention to detail and multi-tasking, and a strong aptitude for streamlining processes to improve efficiency without sacrificing accuracy
- A solid understanding of US GAAP
- Ownership and pride in your work product
- Extensive experience working with Excel and Sage Intacct or other ERP
- Proficiency in Google Workspace
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
And you’re really good at:
- Keeping track of financial activities with accuracy, efficiency and speed, as well as reconciling data to find and correct inaccuracies
- Managing invoices and receivables, ensuring payments are made and received on time and without errors
- Preparing timely and accurate financial reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual cadence, including balance sheets, income statements and P&L statements
- Thinking analytically and solving problems proactively and reactively
- Demonstrating organizational skills with extremely close attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once
- Learning new tools and concepts quickly, easily making connections between unrelated ideas, and taking on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks
- Independently exercising good judgment and discretion when managing internal and external information
- Streamlining processes to improve efficiency and provide cross-departmental support as needed
- Contributing positively to team culture and working well under pressure
