The Team

Dagger’s strategy department consists of strategists who flex across brand, comms, and social – and who work closely alongside our media and analytics arms. The team is adept at defining the right message within the right channels with the right multipliers for maximum impact.

As Strategy Director, you’re responsible for deriving strong consumer insights, defining strategic approaches, and stewarding the execution of strategies on behalf of clients, with a high degree of ownership at the client level. You are, first and foremost, a practitioner for clients, owning work as well as guiding junior team members. Your remaining time will be split between mentorship, thought leadership, and new business.

This role is based in Atlanta, GA (we're a hybrid workplace).

  • Conducting brand, competitive, and market research to identify insights, white space, and opportunities for brands
  • Developing briefs that inspire creative concepting 
  • Developing messaging frameworks and communication plans
  • Developing integrated content and channel strategies across mediums
  • Bringing forth ideas alongside creative to steward strategies through to execution
  • Using data to strengthen strategic recommendations, which includes thinking out of the box as to how data could be used to rally recommendation support
  • Partnering with Media to develop learning agendas and plans to meet client objectives
  • Consulting on the assessment of performance, in close collaboration with Analytics, to make data-driven optimization recommendations
  • Staying current on evolving platforms and trends and implications for client strategies 
  • Being plugged into culture and up on trends, with an understanding of how to translate cultural conversations into branded content that drives earned media
  • Architecting, scoping and estimating strategy approaches
  • Contributing strategic recommendations for new business pitches 
  • Contributing thought leadership and ideas for up-leveling and up-selling client work, including formal agency POVs and external thought leadership 

And you have experience...

  • Applying strategic principles across both B2C and B2B sectors 
  • Reviewing work for junior team members as the final reviewer ahead of client delivery
  • Understanding paid media and where owned/earned intersect with paid
  • Balancing big-picture ideas with digging in to bring those ideas to life tactically
  • Developing new constructs that visually present strategic concepts within easy-to-understand frameworks
  • Leading client meetings/presentations with Director/ VP leaders in an organization, with a degree of gravitas and an ability to manage the room 
  • Defending strategic recommendations with a high degree of rigor and professionalism
  • Understanding, anticipating, and navigating (potential) client landmines 
  • Being the voice of clarity on direction to proceed when the team is stuck
  • Applying high attention to detail while juggling multiple priorities at once
  • Forging strong interpersonal relationships – both internal and with Director level clients
  • Coaching (and challenging) junior team members to propel their career growth
  • Collaborating inside and outside of your department to produce work of exceptional quality while simultaneously cross-educating the agency
  • Infusing and prioritizing new ideas for process improvements 
  • Thinking entrepreneurially and problem-solving when faced with firsts or challenges
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, both to clients and internally
